How to Delete and Recover Files on Google Drive

For Gmail account owners, the Google Drive storage service is certainly familiar because it is very useful for storing important files such as photos, videos, or other documents.

The capacity provided by Google Drive is not much, which is 15 GB. If it is full, then you need to delete large files so that there is still space left to use.

How to delete files on Google Drive is quite easy. This step is necessary so that you don’t have to pay for excess files from Google’s policy to increase storage space.

Before deleting files in Google Drive, make sure you check the storage space at the following address https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/quota.

Next, select the type of document that will be deleted. Make sure the document is no longer in use.

How to Delete Files in Google Drive

Referring to the Google Support page, how to delete files in Google Drive can be done via Android, IOS, or PC.
Android
1. Open Google Drive app on Android device
2. At the bottom, select ‘File’ with a file icon
3. Select the document or file to delete
4. Tap the three-dot icon next to the file
5. Select Delete and the document will move to the trash

IOS
1. Open Google Drive app on IOS device
2. Select the document or file to delete
3. Tap More, the three-dot icon next to the file
4. Select Delete
5. The document will be automatically deleted and moved to the trash

PC
1. Login to Gmail account
2. Go to Drive
3. Select the document to be deleted
4. Right click, select ‘remove’
5. The document will be automatically deleted and moved to the trash

Documents that you delete will remain in the trash for 30 days. This can be considered if before 30 days you want to restore it.

If 30 days have passed, all documents in the trash will automatically be permanently deleted by the Google Drive system.

Android
1. Open Google Drive App on Android device
2. At the top left click Menu (three line icon), select Trash
3. Select the document to be recovered, click the three-dot icon and Restore

IOS
1. Open Google Drive App on IOS device
2. At the top left click Menu (three line icon), select Trash
3. Select the document to be recovered, click the three-dot icon and Restore

PC
1. On your PC or computer, go to drive.google.com/drive/trash
Tip: You can sort junk documents by date they were dumped to find the oldest or newest files.
2. Right-click the document you want to recover
3. Select Restore
